I HAVE WOVEN A PARACHUTE OUT OF EVERYTHING BROKEN
A COLLABORATION WITH THE EREPRIJS ORKEST and ANDYS SKORDIS
[2024/2025]
The threads of early music can be found when you pull apart even the most avantgarde of music styles. It is here we find ourselves: exploring how time, past and present can be fused in a single entity. In other words how a completely new piece of music is perceived
after an ancient one and vice versa.
Reflets is the commission of a cycle of pieces composed specifically for Elisabeth
Hetherington and Orkest De Ereprijs by Andys Skordis. While 17th century air de court would serve as a thread connecting one scene to the next, each of the vignettes of
Skordis will use different combinations of instruments, changes in light, positions in
the hall and movement to explode out of the sonorous texture.
Featuring the unique characteristics and possibilities of the Ereprijs instrumentalists, in combination with the fragile and soft textures of Elisabeth’s voice as well as her aptitude for extended techniques and movement, Reflets will weave together the past and present, the here and now.
