[2026/2027] The closing line of Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 — “those who shall receive me… will not, not now, not ever tell me who I am” — serves as the central inspiration for this programme. It captures the longing to understand oneself through others, only to realise that true identity must be found within.

In 1610, a 19-year-old Robert Dowland—son of the renowned composer John Dowland— compiled A Musical Banquet, one of the most significant collections for understanding the Elizabethan lute song repertoire. Inspired by his father’s legacy, Robert curated a musical “tasting menu” of sorts, gathering pieces from across Europe.

[2025/2026] Natural Selection explores our relationship with nature and the supernatural — a realm where beauty and danger intertwine, and transformation often comes at a cost. The programme moves through states of wonder, longing, fear, and surrender, tracing how humans have sought connection with forces beyond themselves through myth, poetry, and song.

You enter the fascinating world of soprano Francesca Cuzzoni, one of the most famous divas of the 18th century. Cuzzoni was the muse of grand masters like Handel, Vivaldi, and Bononcini.
